He was an intern student in Multimedia group, Institute for Infocomm research, Singapore from 2006.8 to 2007.2 and a visiting student at School of Computer Engineering, Nanyang Technological University, Singapore from 2007.3 to 2008.2. He was a visiting student at the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, McMaster University, Canada from 2008.10 to 2009.4, where he was a postdoctoral research fellow from 2010.1 to 2012.4. From 2011.8 to 2011.10, he was a visiting research scientist at Department of Photonics Engineering, Technical University of Denmark. From 2012.8 to 2013.7 He was a Humboldt research fellow at the Institute of Multimedia Communication and Signal Processing, Friedrich Alexander University of Erlangen-Nuremberg, Germany.

He received the the award of national excellent Ph.D thesis form the Ministry of Education of People's Republic of China in 2012.
