The 1st China Intelligent Industries Expo (CIIE) was held in China Beijing Agriculture Exhibition Hall September 16 to 18. Three micro intelligent cars were displayed on the Expo, which are co-developed by Yang Ming, Wang Bin from School of Electronic Information and Electrical Engineering (SEIEE) and Prof. Wang Chunxiang from School of Mechanical Engineering. The three vehicles show the audience how well the function of automatic parking can be achieved.
Under guidance of the three
teachers, Lu Zhengchen, a postgraduate from Department of Automation, Gu Feng,
an undergraduate from Department of Computer Science and several other students
made every effort in this summer vacation to overcome technical difficulties in
order to make the display successful. The cars' excellent performance on the
Expo attracted the audience and media's great interest and attention.
The research on micro intelligent
vehicle's automatic driving is enlightened by an important research plan
supported by National Natural Science Funds. Sharing common interest in the
intelligent car and intelligent driving, 11 research institutions including
Tsinghua University and SJTU set up special research groups to co-develop new
technologies in the intelligent vehicle. Since last May, six exchange
activities have taken place for presentation and communication of progress in
the phrasal sense. SJTU's research on intelligent vehicles has made remarkable
contribution to the development of urban intelligent traffic.
