On April 7th 2012, the previous day of the 116th founding anniversary of Shanghai Jiao Tong University, more than 600 SEIEE students of 29 classes who enrolled in the year 1977and 1978 came back to SJTU to have an exciting reunion.
After all the alumni came, SEIEE chairperson Zhang Ansheng and Executive Dean Mao Junfa, on behalf of all the faculty and 8000 students of SEIEE, extended a sincere welcome to the former students. The students of the 1982 class are the very ones who have experienced the start of the reform and opening up in China, and are the first class after College Entrance Examination of China (Gaokao) resumed. Up to now, they have made excellent achievements by hard work in various related areas. Great changes are made to both students themselves and to the school. When they studied here, they belonged to different departments, and now when they came back after 30 years, the former departments have merged into one big school and all the students have become one family. SEIEE is pretty proud of every one of them and welcome them to come back often for visit, exchange or work guidance.
Time can never weaken the close friendship between classmates. They shake hands; they talked good old days and hug even with tears. After 30 years’ graduation, perhaps they have forgotten some of the lectures they learnt, but the thing they would never forget is the connection between each other and the connection with SJTU, because this is the very place where they spent their youth. Besides of reunion, their fervent wish was to meet and give their best regards to their teachers here. As they said, it is the great professors made them what they are today.
In the square of SEIEE, two senior-aged graduates were looking at the old pictures when they were a student, and recollected the past stories. Another one alumni said that four of his roommate had come today, and they even came back from Austria and Germany to attend this anniversary. To them, here is the place where their dreams started.
Under the beautiful sunshine, the blissful faces, young or sophisticated, have constituted a spectacular scenery at this moment.
Today, they also attended the Celebration Ceremony for the 30th Graduation Anniversary of the graduates of 1982 class which was held in Jingjing Auditorium on Minhang Campus. Professor Zhang E, Song Wentao and Tan Fuwa from SEIEE joined the celebration with all the students on behalf of SEIEE teachers.
Just like what Ye Nuomo from class 41082 of 1982 says in his poem, “Dreams start from Alma Mater, with all the beautiful youth time. She often comes to dreams, with my endless thanks to her. ”
